Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan’s 38th Death Anniversary Today

Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan’s 38th Death Anniversary will be observed today, August 6, 2022.

He breathed his last today dedicating his life for the service of the suffering humanity. Elaborate programs have been chalked out to mark the day with due solemnity and religious fervour both at home and abroad in recognition of his life of honesty, integrity, hard work, duty, public service, philanthropy and sacrifice. His dedication for his countrymen both while serving as the chief of Naval Staff and as a Minister was remarkable.

Quran Khatam and Quran Khwani will be held at his Mazar together with placing of floral wreaths as a mark of respect to the personality who was the chief of Naval Staff and minister for communications and agriculture. His final resting place is just next to his beloved workplace at the Naval Headquarters and his contribution in modernizing the Bangladesh Navy is written in the pages of history. The sound of Azaan for five times salah can be heard from the mosque nearby which he helped to establish for the members of Bangladesh Navy.

Doa Mahfil will also be held at his residence Mahbub Bhavan along with Quran Khatam and Quran Khwani. Begum Mahbub Ali Khan has requested all to pray for the deceased.

Special prayers and Quran Khatam will also be held at the Dhanmondi jam-e-masjid for the peace and salvation of the departed soul. This is the mosque which he visited quite often and offered his Jumma prayers every week. The madrasah students will be presented with ceiling fans to help them in this intolerable hot weather.

A doa mahfil will be held on August 7 at Surovi, a philanthropic organization for under privileged children established by Begum Mahbub Ali Khan in 1979. She always reminisces the encouragement she received when starting this noble endeavor. Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan’s mother Zubaida Khatun was also a philanthropist during her times. The teachings he received from his mother may have led him to encourage the activities of Surovi. Surovi carried out massive relief activities during the unprecedented flood in Sylhet this year.

Moreover, special prayers and Quran Khatam and Quran Khwani will also be held in orphanages including Baoniabad orphanage and Madrasah for girls in Mirpur, Bhashantek orphanage, Cantonment, Sonargaon orphanage, Narayanganj, Ceiling fans will also be distributed in these orphanages.

Several mosques in Dhaka will offer special prayers on this occasion and will be supplied with ceiling fans. The mosques are: Baitul Mokarram Jame Mosque, Azad Jame Mosque, Kakrail Jame Mosque, High Court Mazar Mosque, Azimpur Dayera Sharif Jame Mosque, Baitul Aman Jam-e-Mosque Dhanmondi, Dhanmondi Eidgah Mosque, Dhanmondi Taquwa Jame Mosque, Gawsul Azam Jame Mosque, DOHS Jam-e-Mosque Mohakhali, Lalbag Shahi Jame Mosque, Baitul Aman Mosque Dhanmindi, Baitul Mamun Mosque, Kalabagan Jame Mosjid, Bitul Kurban Jame Mosjid, Baitul Moallah Jame Mosjid, Baitul Mamur Jame Mosjid, Abu Bakar Siddik (R) Jame Mosjid, Baitul Jannat Jame Mosjid, Baitul Najat Jame Mosjid.

The day will be observed in his birthplace Sylhet with due solemnity. The flood affected mosques and madrasah in his hometown will be repaired and ceiling fans will be supplied to alleviate sufferings of madrasah students in this hot weather. Medicines will be supplied to the nearby health complex on behalf of the family together with milad mahfil, special minajataftef Zohr prayers at Birahimpur Jame mosque and Latifia Hafezia Madasah Kalabagan Sylhet. A Milad mahfil with distribution of tobarak will be held at the Dargah premises of Hajrat Shah Jalal (R) on behalf of the people of greater Sylhet also. Quran Khatam, Quran Khwani as well as distribution of food among destitute and hard-working people will be carried out at the Kadamtali Mosque on behalf of the people of Dakhin Surma. His birthplace was very dear to him and as a minister he undertook various development activities.

In Bogura, a milad mahfil and special munajat after Asar prayers will be held in the Baitur Rahman mosque on behalf of the family together with Quran Khatam and special munajat at the Gabtali Bagbari Jame Mosque. Paddapara Ar-Rahman Jame Mosque will also hold special munajat after Asar prayers on this occasion. Moreover, day long Quran Khatam, Quran Khwani after Zohr prayers and doa mahfil after Asar prayers will be held at the Lathiaganj orphanage for the blind on behalf of the family. They will also be supplied with ceiling fans.

In Jamalpur, a Milad Mahfil and special Munajat after Asar prayers has been arranged at the Shah Kamal Mazar Mosque in Durmut.

Quran Khatam and doa Mahfil will be held at the Brick Lane Mosque, London on this day arranged by Mahbub Ali Khan Smriti Sangshad. A memorial meeting with special prayers and Milad mahfil will also be held in honour of the deceased on August 7, in London, UK. On Tuesday, August 9, the British Bangla Welfare Trust will donate food items to food banks in London, UK. It is in UK that he received higher

training as a naval officer and received commendation from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll as he secured top position among all candidates from the Commonwealth member states.

Special prayers will be held in the Holy Makkah and Medina in Saudi Arabia. When performing Umrah he had the blessing of Allah SWT to take part in the washing of Holy Kaaba. The piece of glorious memory with which he washed the Holy Kaaba is still preserved to this day. It is a symbol of the immense Rehmat Allah SWT had bestowed upon him.

Quran Khatam, Special prayers and distribution of food for orphans at Madrasah Dato Keramat, Kualalumpur, Madrasah Tahfiz. Ampang Jaya, Ampang, Madrasah Tahfiz Al Mustakim. Rawang will be held throughout the day followed by discussion meeting and Doa Mahful in the evening at Masjid Tunku Mizar Zainal Abedin, Putrajaya, Malaysia.

Moreover, Doa Mahfil and Munajat will also be held at the Islamic Centre in Jackson Heights, New York, USA.

The Mahbub Memorial Museum showcasing momentos of his glorious life will be opening n the month of August.

The Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan Memorial Trust dedicated to Cardiovascular Research, scientific innovation, philanthropy will be established.
